JEWELLERY FOR YOUR FUNERAL
Jewellery for the day of your funeral is the collection I made for the final project of the postgraduate course in jewellery design at IED University, Madrid 2023.
The idea of the collection is that the jewellery has an intention. I thought about how they would be designed if they had to have a meaning when put on a recumbent body. For that, I focused on several things: that they have no gravity, with the intention that they are flowers that sprout from the body upwards. That they should not have a clasp, as the back will not be seen. That they can only be worn on the upper part of the body, including the hands, as these are the only parts of the body that would be seen. That they have no movement, jewellery created to be worn by another person, placing them, as in this case, the dead person, preparing them.
The jewels are made of silver and borosilicate glass, also with the intention of being delicate, as they do not have to withstand any kind of blows or movement.
It has been exhibited at the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas in Madrid in the IX Muestra de Orfebrería Contemporánea de ADOC.
